DCC Energy was delighted to attend and participate in the Economic and Social Research Institute's (ESRI) Bridging the Gap: The Role of Energy Diversification in Delivering a Just Transition for Residential Heat Decarbonisation event, held in Dublin on 10 September. The event brought together policymakers, researchers and industry representatives to discuss practical pathways for reducing emissions from home heating in Ireland.
The event focused on ESRI research examining how Ireland can accelerate residential heat decarbonisation while ensuring solutions remain affordable, accessible and practical for households. Discussions highlighted the importance of raising awareness of the decarbonisation options available to consumers and providing clear information that empowers households to make informed choices. The findings reinforced the need for a range of solutions that reflect the differing needs of homes across the country.
Representing DCC Energy, John Rooney, Managing Director, DCC Energy Ireland, and Orla Stevens, Certa Ireland, joined a panel discussion exploring the role that a diversified energy mix can play in supporting a fair and effective energy transition. The discussion highlighted the importance of providing consumers with practical, affordable decarbonisation options and reinforced the need for a multi-energy approach, recognising that no single solution will be suitable for every home.
